A Different LIFE
We are all passionate about something. I’m not going to lie – I’m pretty excited about the start of the college football season. We get especially excited at our house about the Florida State Seminoles! I’m blessed to have a wife that loves football at least as much as I do.
Maybe football or sports isn’t your thing. Maybe you get excited about dogs or cats or exercise or food or a particular cause. The question isn’t IF you are passionate about something – but WHAT you are passionate about.
An even bigger question is whether the thing that we get fired up about really matters at the end of the day. We could argue that it matters to us, but does it really make a difference? If it doesn’t make a difference, it’s safe to say it doesn’t matter all that much.
The same is true about our lives. If we want our lives to really matter, we need to be making a difference. But how can we really make a difference in the lives of our family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers?
If we really want to make a difference, we have to be different.
There is a story in John 4 that helps us understand what it means to be different in a way that make a lasting difference in the lives of others.
Jesus was willing to be different by going out of His way and even breaking social norms to talk to a woman who had been through a lot. It’s safe to say most people wouldn’t have done that.
Because Jesus was willing to be different, He made a major difference in the woman’s life by offering her the one thing that her soul craved more than anything. It was what she was designed for: an eternally overflowing life in relationship with the One who made her. That was the different life she had been looking for unsuccessfully for years.
Having met Jesus, her life was now different and she went and shared that difference with others who also met Jesus and their lives transformed as well. Her different life had already begun to overflowing make a lasting difference in the lives others in her community.
Not only is that the different life that Jesus designed each of us for, that is the kind of church God is calling us to plant in Holly Springs. We envision a different kind of church where people can experience the different life Jesus designed us for that overflows out of us and makes a lasting difference in our community.
Our strategy is simple and follows what the woman did in John 4.
Step 1: BRING it.
The first thing she did was she brought her empty bucket to the well. She was empty and didn’t even realize how empty she really was without Jesus. We “BRING it”, when we come together for worship, recognizing that we are empty outside of a relationship with Jesus.
Step 2: FILL it.
Jesus gave the woman way more than she bargained for when she came out to the well. He filled her up in ways she didn’t even know were possible. We “FILL it” when we come together in our LIFEgroups and DNA groups to provide encouragement, prayer, support, and accountability as we grow in our relationship with Jesus.
Step 3: POUR it.
The first thing the woman did after talking with Jesus was to go and tell others about Him and the difference He made in her life. The result was that the whole town was impacted because she introduced them to Jesus. God doesn’t fill us up so we can be full. He fills us so that we can POUR His life and love into our family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers. We “POUR it” through adopting specific people groups and serving them together with our LIFEgroup every month.
That’s what LifeSpring Church is all about: connecting people to an overflowing relationship with Jesus Christ.
If that sounds like the kind of thing you want to be a part of and you live in the Holly Springs area, shoot us a message – we would love to meet you.
